Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church
A Catholic parish in Oregon is planning a phased renovation of its 1970s church. The existing finishes are dated, furnishings lack quality, and the sanctuary presents significant architectural constraints. The first phase introduces new marble liturgical furnishings — altar, ambo, and altar of repose — followed by a classical reredos behind the tabernacle. Because the current sanctuary is tight and limited by a low lean-to roof, a meaningful renewal requires demolition and reconstruction. The proposed design extends the sanctuary 15 feet and continues the nave’s ceiling to gain height. The renewed focal point centers on the altar–tabernacle axis, framed by Corinthian columns and a pediment.
